Getting to Lake Manyara National Park, which is located in the northern part of Tanzania is 126 kilometers west of Arusha Town. The park is sized 330 square kilometers of which 220 sq kilometers. Lake Manyara National Park offers a wilderness experience in diverse habitats, from its Rift Valley soda lake to dense woodlands and steep mountainsides. Apart from a spectacular setting, the park is famous for its unusual tree-climbing lions and the vast elephant herds it was established to protect. Its groundwater forests, bush plains, baobab strewn cliffs, and algae-streaked hot springs offer incredible ecological variety in a small area, rich in wildlife and incredible numbers of birds, which has made safari moment to this wonderful park amazing.

By Road,

Lake Manyara National Park is located 126 km (78 mi) southwest of Arusha along a newly surfaced road, close to the ethnically diverse market town of Mto wa Mbu and can be reached in only1 hour and 30 minutes by road from Arusha and in less than an hour still, if you are coming from the Ngorongoro crater. Bits of the northern part of the park gets very busy more so in the afternoon. Two main gates, that are in the north and the south make up the 2 main entrances to the park. The park can also be reached from Babati the capital of the Manyara Region.

A 4 x4 safari vehicle is highly recommended if you drive to the park.

By Air,

Lake Manyara Airport is nearby. Lake Manyara Airport is an airport serving the park in the Arusha Region of Tanzania. You can easily fly from Arusha or Kilimanjaro airport direct to the park, for those who do not intend to drive.
