Meru National Park is located 355km/220mi northeast of Nairobi and 60km/37mi east from Meru town, and thus there are two different ways on how to get to Meru National Park which is by both Air and Road and the easiest and quickest is by using air transport.
By road
Visitors to the park can readily get to the park through ground transportation in a 4×4 customized vehicle, there are two different routes familiarly addressed for using on getting to the park from Nairobi, The first is the main road via Nyeri, Nanyuki and Meru town which covers a driving distance of 348 kilometers taking roughly 3 hours while accessing the National Park from Maua to Murera Gate (35 km), the second road route on How to Access Meru National Park is via Embu-Meru weather roads which is a distance of 290 kilometers taking up to approximately 2.5 hours and offering the best approach to this park via the Ura gate. Road Transportation is the most favorable way on getting to the park because it is cheaper and no so of a long distance to drive.
By Air
Another alternative way on accessing the park is by air, there are usually daily scheduled charter flights that operate to and from the airstrips inside the National Park. There are 2 airstrips in the vicinity for fly-in safaris in as well as a helicopter pad very close to the Mulika lodge, the main airstrip is the Kinna Airstrip which is 45 minutes’ drive away from Elsa’s Kopje, all the scheduled flights from Nairobi Wilson Airport fly to this Kinna Airstrip and also have daily departures and the other airstrip in Meru National Park is the Mughwango Hill Airstrip is 5 minutes’ drive away from the Elsa’s Kopje. It is also possible to organize a private charter from any other park linking Meru National Park and also an alternative the option is to fly to Nanyuki Airstrip on scheduled daily flights from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport the biggest Transport hub in Nairobi and then take a private charter from Nanyuki to Meru.
