Day 1: TRANSFER FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport and after completing the immigration process, you will be warmly welcomed by our safari driver. Following a brief orientation, you will be transferred to your booked accommodation. Let the 12 Days Rwanda Gorilla with Tanzania wildlife Safari begin!

Day 2: VISIT KIGALI GENOCIDE MEMORIAL & TRANSFER TO MUSANZE

After enjoying a leisurely breakfast this morning, you will check out of the lodge and drive to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial. This site honors the memory of more than one million Rwandans who were killed in 1994, focusing on education and peace-building. Here, you will have the opportunity to watch and listen to video clips from some of the survivors of the incident.

Following this poignant visit, you will proceed for lunch before driving to your booked accommodation in Ruhengeri. You will then have the rest of the afternoon to relax and prepare for the next day’s trekking. Alternatively, you may choose to visit the local market in Musanze town.

Day 3: GORILLA TREKKING EXPERIENCE

Begin your day with an early morning cup of coffee, then prepare for a briefing from Rwanda’s officials. Following the briefing, you will drive to the trekking starting point for a short orientation before entering the jungle to search for the elusive mountain gorillas and observe their lifestyle in their natural habitat. Upon encountering the gorillas, you will have the unique opportunity to spend an hour sitting around these majestic apes, gazing into their expressive, round eyes. A reasonable level of fitness is required for the gorilla safari, along with suitable walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sunscreen, and a hat. The duration of the gorilla tracking experience can range from half a day to a full day, depending on the movement of the primates. After this unforgettable gorilla tracking experience, you will return to your lodge for a relaxed afternoon, reflecting on the beautiful photos of your great gorilla encounter while waiting for dinner and overnight. Alternatively, you may choose to visit the Dian Fossey Institute to learn about the remarkable work of this pioneering conservationist who played a significant role in the protection of gorillas.

Day 4: GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING & TRANSFER TO KIGALI

Today, after your early morning breakfast at 6:30 am, you will be transferred to the park headquarters in Kinigi. Here, you will be briefed by the ranger about the rules and regulations governing golden monkey tracking before you venture into the jungle in search of these charming primates. The golden monkey trek can last anywhere from one to six hours, similar to gorilla trekking, but it is generally less strenuous. Despite being challenging, the trek is immensely rewarding. You will have the opportunity to spend an hour with the golden monkeys, taking as many pictures as you desire. After completing the trek, you will return for lunch at one of the lodges or hotels. Later, you will drive back to Kigali, where you will check into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: ARRIVAL AT KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO ARUSHA

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro international airport, you will be warmly greeted by your driver-guide, after short introduction you will be offered bottles of mineral water followed by a private transfer to Tumbili Lodge in Arusha for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: EMBARK TO LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK FOR GAME DRIVES

After breakfast at the hotel, your driver-guide with his safari vehicle on the ground, will pick you up and embark to Lake Manyara national park for game drives, and game viewings. This beautiful park with its lush vegetation and tropical forests of giant figs, took its name from the Maasai word for “euphorbia tirucalli”, a bush which is used to make a thorny hedge to protect their cattle. Elephant, giraffe, buffalo, large population of hippos, zebras even the tree climbing lions can be spotted lazily resting on the branches of an “Acacia tortilis” tree. The birdlife is also abundant, with flamingos, pelicans, hornbills and plenty of forest species. Lunchboxes will be served to you at the picnic site before proceed further with game drives en route to the exit gate. And further to Kudu Lodge in Karatu for dinner, and overnight.

Day 7: DRIVE TO CENTRAL SERENGETI VIA NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA

In the morning and after breakfast, leave your lodge for a drive to Serengeti national park via the “eighth wonder of the world”, popular Known as the Ngorongoro. Your driver guide shall be stopping in some if the beautiful views overlooking the crater for viewing and sightseeing. Later, you will visit one of the Maasai boma for an amazing Maasai Cultural tour before entering the Serengeti through the Naabi hill gate. Lunch at the picnic point followed by a game drive en route to your Lodge with a great chance to see the great herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles or a pride of lions lounging in the shade. Dinner and overnight at Sametu Camp.

Day 8: EN ROUTE GAME DRIVES FROM CENTRAL SERENGETI TO NORTH SERENGETI

Awake to the awe-inspiring surroundings of the world’s greatest wildlife sanctuary, surrounded by wild animals as you enjoy a delightful breakfast. Today, set off on an exhilarating adventure as you follow the epic migration of wildebeest towards the northern part of the Serengeti. Along the way, be prepared to witness breathtaking landscapes and encounter a plethora of captivating wildlife and diverse bird species. During the journey, indulge in a delicious lunch served at a picturesque picnic site, allowing you to savor the flavors of the wilderness. Afterward, continue with game drives, soaking in the stunning vistas, and immersing yourself in the abundant wildlife. As the day comes to a close, make your way to Nyikani Migration Camp, where you can refresh with a shower, unwind, and enjoy a delectable dinner, and overnight.

Day 9: EXPLORE THE WILDEBEEST MIGRATION IN THE NORTH SERENGETI

We are completely flexible with your preferences and this day will be organized according to your wishes. Your guide will discuss with you the best timing for you, including the game drives and the wake up time. For example, you may opt to do a morning game drive, return to the camp for lunch and relaxation and finish with an afternoon game drive, or you could do a full day game drive with picnic lunches.

Immerse yourself in a captivating wildebeest game drives in the North Serengeti. Traverse the expansive grassy plains and witness the magnificent wildebeest migration in all its splendor.
