The savannah ecosystem consists of small hills with bushy vegetation and scattered large trees. Other areas are open grasslands while along the main rivers, large trees with thick undergrowth are found. The main features are the meeting point of rivers Tana and Thiba, Kamburu, and Masinga hydro-electric dams, which harbor a variety of biodiversity. Major wildlife attractions include Buffalo, the elephants, Rothschild giraffes, Common zebras, Lesser kudu, Water Buck, Bushbuck, Impala, Vervet Monkeys, Aardvark, Yellow baboons, Dik-dik, Grants gazelle, Black-backed jackal, Cape hare, Warthog, Duiker, Sykes monkeys, Genet cat, Slender mongoose, Stripped ground squirrel, Dwarf mongoose, Crested porcupine, Tree Hyrax, Rock Hyrax, and tortoise. Day 1: TRANSFER TO ARABUKO SOKOKE FOREST RESERVE. 2HRS
Pick up from your Nairobi hotel in the morning after your morning breakfast and drive to the Mwea National Reserve which is roughly a 3-hour drive away from Nairobi with your packed picnic lunch. Upon reaching the park, you will head for a nature walk to explore the park. The park is flanked on the south by the Tana River, filled with crocs and hippos and stunning bird life. The park is filled with elephants, gazelle, zebra, and giraffe – many of which are the very rare and endangered Rothschild giraffe. If desired, you can as well go for a game drive. The game drive can last for roughly 2 hours by mid-day you will be back for refreshment and later enjoy your picnic lunch at the canopy with fresh forest breath. For the bird lovers, you can do some birding around here. Later in the afternoon, you can opt for a game drive and drive back and start to prepare your dinner and raise your tent. You will enjoy a wonderful retreat moment as you enjoy endless stories by the fireplace during the night as you make your dinner.
Day 2: EXPLORE THE PARK
Wake up, have breakfast served right, and drive for morning game drive, to add on you count. After the game drive, return for lunch and after lunch, head for a boat ride in Tan River, patched with a number of bird species, hippos, and crocodiles you will later return for dinner and overnight at your camp. Day 3: EXPLORE THE PARK AND TRANSFER BACK
After your morning breakfast, you will head for a game drive before later drive back to Nairobi en route lunch along the way, reach in the afternoon in Nairobi and either dropped at your hotel or airport for your flight. End of tour.
