1 Day Watamu Marine Park TourDetailed Itinerary.

Day 1: THE TOUR

After your early morning breakfast at your hotel in Mombasa at 7.30, you will be met by our driver-guide, will brief you shortly before you jump onto your jeep and find your way northwards to Watamu Marine National Park, which is roughly 90 minutes’ drive away, as you have a great beautiful view of the countryside and numerous plantation gardens, with beautiful landscapes. Later, you will arrive at the marine park, clear your entrances, and head off, for motorized 2 decor glass boat and you can lay on the top deck and bask in the sun or just relax on the lower deck and enjoy the underwater life as you cruise towards the Marine Park. In a short while, you will be able to spot some dolphins, swimming, and you will be able to jump into the water and take a swim with them. It’s an amazing adventure, having them around, as you explore the great sea. You can as well as start snorkeling straight away, and go deep down the water to see other sea creatures. Numerous fish species can be spotted here. We board and proceed with the cruise towards the park. The Marine Park and Reserve are renowned worldwide for its natural beauty and boast a rich marine life.

The Park is also home to three species of a sea turtle who also nest on the Marine Park beaches. The Park and its coral gardens are one of the main justifications for visiting Watamu. Some of the more commonly seen fish include of course the parrotfish, whose digestion of the coral reefs over the millennia, have produced the white sand beach itself. Angelfish, groupers, filefish, lionfish and snappers are just a handful of the easily seen species within this superb, brightly colored underwater world. You will also visit the Larder in Turtle Bay, towards south to Blue Bay, as the glass boat floats gently over the eroded coral ledges, there are numerous damselfish, young butterfly, and angelfish, morays, groupers, and octopus. You’ll also find lionfish and crocodile fish if you look closely. Another bonus here is the large barracuda which hangs around near the seabed in large groups. You can dive or snorkel to watch the magnificent coral caves hidden under the blue water. Get a chance to swim and touch hundreds of schools of fish and turtles. Later sail off to Sudi Island, to catch up with hot seafood lunch (chicken is available for those who don’t eat seafood). After lunch, you can choose to take a canoe ride into mangrove forest on the island with a guide and learn a little history about the island and the creatures found there, for those who choose to remain on the island can take the opportunity to swim on the shores of the island or just busk in the sun and take photos. Take some time and capture your last moments on the sandy beaches. Enjoy your last moments on the island and its environment. At 4:30 pm it’s time to board the boat and head back to the mainland where your driver will be waiting to drive you back to your hotel or desired to drop off point in time for dinner, as you end the tour.
