What Is Included in an All-Inclusive Tanzania Safari?

By the Enclose Africa Safaris planning team, Arusha, Tanzania. Last updated October 27, 2026.

Short answer: An all-inclusive Tanzania safari covers everything on the ground in one price: a private safari vehicle and driver-guide, all park and crater fees, lodges or tented camps, full board meals, drinking water and airport transfers. It does not cover international flights, visas, travel insurance, tips, most drinks at lodges, laundry or optional activities. Always read the inclusions list, because “all inclusive” is not a regulated term.

What is included on our Tanzania safaris?

These items appear in the inclusions of our Tanzania safaris. Each tour page lists its own exact inclusions, so check the one you are considering.

IncludedWhat it means in practice
Private 4x4 safari vehicleA Land Cruiser-style vehicle with a pop-up roof, used only by your group
English-speaking driver-guideThe same guide for the whole safari, who drives and finds the wildlife
Park entrance feesAll national park and conservation area fees on the itinerary
Ngorongoro Crater feesIncluded on itineraries that descend into the Ngorongoro Crater
AccommodationLodges or tented camps each night, in the tier you choose
Full board mealsBreakfast, lunch (often a packed lunch on game drive days) and dinner while on safari
Bottled waterIn the vehicle throughout the safari
Airport transfersPickup and drop-off at the airport
Game drives and listed activitiesEverything named in the day-by-day itinerary
Flying doctors evacuation coverEmergency air evacuation, on many of our itineraries

Park fees are the item to check first when comparing quotes. They are a large share of the cost of any northern Tanzania safari, and a price that leaves them out can look much lower than it really is.

What is not included?

On our Tanzania safaris, as on most, these are extra:

  • International flights. Most travelers fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport near Arusha, Tanzania.
  • Tanzania visa. Most US and UK travelers need one. Check current entry requirements before you book.
  • Travel insurance. Strongly recommended, including medical cover.
  • Tips for your driver-guide and lodge staff.
  • Drinks at lodges. Soft drinks, beer, wine and spirits, unless your lodge includes them.
  • Laundry at lodges and camps.
  • Personal expenses such as souvenirs.
  • Optional activities not on the itinerary, such as a hot air balloon safari in the Serengeti, or a Maasai village visit where it is offered as an extra.

Full board vs all inclusive: what is the difference?

The words are often used loosely, so it helps to separate them:

  • Full board is a lodge term. It means breakfast, lunch and dinner. Drinks are usually extra.
  • All inclusive at a lodge sometimes means full board plus house drinks and some activities. This is more common at luxury and high-end camps.
  • An all-inclusive safari usually means the whole package on the ground: vehicle, guide, park fees, lodges and meals.

So a safari can be “all inclusive” while the lodges on it are full board. If included drinks matter to you, choose lodges that include them. We compare the tiers in luxury vs midrange Tanzania safari.

What does a typical day include?

On a day in the central Serengeti on our 7 Days Tanzania Northern Circuit Safari, everything below is already paid for:

  1. Breakfast at your lodge or camp
  2. Morning game drive in your private vehicle with your guide
  3. Lunch, either back at camp or a packed lunch in the park
  4. Afternoon game drive
  5. Dinner and your night’s accommodation
  6. The Serengeti park fee for that day

What you might pay for on the same day: a drink at sunset, laundry, and a tip at the end of the trip.

Which extras should you budget for?

A short checklist before you book:

  • Flights: international, plus any internal flights not in the itinerary
  • Visa for Tanzania (and for Kenya if you are combining the two)
  • Travel insurance
  • Tips for guides and lodge staff
  • Drinks and laundry at lodges
  • Optional activities like ballooning
  • Extra nights before or after the safari, if your flights do not line up with the itinerary

Adding Zanzibar or Kilimanjaro

Packages that combine a safari with a beach stay or a climb include those parts too, as listed on each tour page:

How to check what your quote includes

Every quote we send lists inclusions and exclusions line by line. Before you compare any two safari quotes, check:

  1. Are all park and crater fees included?
  2. Is the vehicle private or shared?
  3. Which lodges, and in which tier?
  4. Which meals, and are any drinks included?
  5. Are airport transfers and any internal flights included?

To get a written quote, use the form on any tour page or our safari inquiry form. We reply within 24 hours.

Frequently asked questions

What does all-inclusive mean on a Tanzania safari?
It usually means everything on the ground is paid for in one price: a private safari vehicle and driver-guide, park and crater fees, accommodation, meals on safari, drinking water and airport transfers. International flights, visas, travel insurance, tips and most drinks are normally not included.
Are drinks included on an all-inclusive safari?
Bottled water in the vehicle is included on our Tanzania safaris. Soft drinks, beer, wine and spirits at the lodges are usually extra at midrange lodges. Some luxury and high-end camps include house drinks in their rate, so check the lodge you choose.
Are tips included in a Tanzania safari price?
No. Tips for your driver-guide and lodge staff are not included in our safari prices and are paid in person at your discretion. Many travelers carry US dollars in small notes for tipping.
Is the Ngorongoro Crater fee included?
Yes, on our Tanzania itineraries that visit the crater. The park entrance fees and the crater fees are listed in the inclusions of each tour page.
Are flights included in an all-inclusive Tanzania safari?
International flights are not included. Most travelers fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport near Arusha, Tanzania. Internal light-aircraft flights, for example to the Serengeti, are included only when they are part of the itinerary.
