Where to stay at Mount Longonot National Park.

You maybe asking yourself or looking for where to stay at Mount Longonot National Park during your Kenya Safari adventure.

Mount Longonot is a stratovolcano located southeast of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya, Africa. It is thought to have last erupted in the 1860s. Its name is derived from the Maasai word Oloonong’ot, meaning “mountains of many spurs” or “steep ridges”.

Hiking the Volcano is so much rewarding, that you will enjoy a total experience. You may want to come a day before the hike to spend a night here to make it easy for you, to start your hike very early on the day of hiking and also avoid early morning rash drive from Nairobi or would wish to stay a night around after your hike and enjoy an impressive calm environment away from the noisy Nairobi.

There are very few accommodation facilities next to this park. The major form of accommodation facility is camping. Camping has always been done at Olongonot Campsite, having the basic toiletries and washroom service. The park offers two campsites with complete ablution block toilets with showers for both ladies and men. Also available is the equipment from Mt. Longonot Tour Guide – porters such as tents, blankets, mattresses, sleeping bags, lamps, cooking equipment for hire.

Coming up is a village which will be ready soon less than a month to provide more accommodation on in the park.

Camping will reward you with a totally wild adventure which is not a usual hotel feeling. It may be possible to camp inside the crater overnight. However, you need to inform your tour operator early for this arrangement.

Inside the crater can go down and camp inside while there is a newly opened nature the trail for young ones and aged ones which also offers all the said scenic sites above

Better lodges are around Lake Naivasha, which is a short drive away from the park as the majority of visitor’s to Mount Longonot always drive here for an added day experience with a boat ride at Lake Naivasha to spot the Flamingos and hippos in the lake.

Lake Naivasha Crescent Camp – The camp, Lake Naivasha Crescent Camp located on the shores of a freshwater lake in Kenya is about 90 minutes of leisurely drive North West of Nairobi, outside the town of Naivasha along Moi South road. It made of canvas; all tents offer en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water with flushing toilets. All lodgings provide an ambiance and style of a traditional tent with all the comforts of a home.
