Day 1
Arrival in Kigali and transfer to the hotel
Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport and after completing the immigration process and collecting your luggage, our safari driver will warmly welcome you, provide a brief orientation, and then transfer you to your booked accommodation for the diner and overnight stay.
Day 2
Kigali City Tour and transfer to Volcanoes National park (travel time: +2.5 hrs)
Today, after your morning breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel to embark on a Kigali city tour. The tour begins with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a solemn site dedicated to honouring the memory of over one million Rwandans who lost their lives during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsis. The memorial serves as a centre for education and peace-building, offering a powerful experience through video testimonies from survivors, providing profound insights into this tragic chapter of Rwanda’s history. Following this emotional and educational experience, you will depart Kigali and head north toward Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxing evening with dinner and settle in for an overnight stay in preparation for the adventures ahead.
Day 3
Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes NP and Cultural village walk
Begin the day with an early morning cup of coffee before heading to the park headquarters for a detailed gorilla trekking briefing. After the orientation, you will set off into the jungle with your packed lunch, embarking on an exciting search for the shy mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. After meeting the gorillas, you will sit around these great apes for a whole hour watching their social life as you take pictures. On a gorilla safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sunscreen, and hut. The gorilla tracking experience takes half or a whole day depending on the movements of these primates. After your unforgettable gorilla trekking experience, you will return to the lodge for a well-deserved lunch. In the afternoon, you may choose to unwind and relax at the lodge or opt for a walk to a nearby village, offering an authentic glimpse into traditional Rwandan life. In the evening, enjoy dinner and settle in for an overnight stay.
Day 4
Golden Monkey Trekking, Ellen DeGeneres Campus of Diana Fossey & Back to Kigali
Today after your early morning breakfast, at 6:30 am, you will be transferred to the park’s headquarters with your packed lunch in Office of Tourism in Kinigi where you are briefed by the ranger about the rules and regulations governing golden monkey tracking before you head off to the jungle in search for these shy lovely primates. The golden monkey trek can last from an hour to six hours just like gorilla trekking, however not much hectic as the gorilla trekking, though the trek is strenuous but much rewarding at the end. You will have one full hour with the golden monkeys, giving you ample time to observe their playful behavior and capture as many photos as you wish. After completing your trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you visit Ellen DeGeneres Campus of Diana Fossey to learn more efforts done to conserve gorillas, later you will be transferred back to Kigali. Upon arrival in Kigali , you will check-in to your lodge for the diner and overnight stay.
In the morning, after breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight back home or to the next destination. This marks the end of your journey.
